Ramallah, February 4, 2024: The head of the Colonization & Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC), Mu’ayyad Shaa’ban, declared that the Israeli occupation authorities and colonists carried out 1,593 attacks during the January.

Shaa’ban pointed out in the Commission’s monthly report on “violations of the Israeli occupation and colonizers in the occupied Palestine” that the occupation forces carried out 1,407 attacks, while the colonists carried out 186 attacks. The Minister Shaa’ban, also stated that the violations were concentrated in Hebron Governorate, which witnessed 291 attacks, followed by Jerusalem Governorate, which witnessed 203 attacks, and then Nablus Governorate where 200 attacks were recorded.

Furthermore, He stated that the colonizers' attacks were concentrated in Hebron Governorate, which witnessed 63 attacks. Meanwhile, there were 38 colonizers’ attacks in Nablus, and 23 in Ramallah, the most prominent of which was the shooting of the young man Tawfiq Ajaq in al Mizrea ’a Al Sharqiya.

Shaa’ban also pointed out that the colonists stole 47 livestock, 3 agricultural tractors, and two tents. Meanwhile, the occupation forces seized 82 vehicles, 7 camera recordings, 15 bulldozers and trucks. In addition, 19 cases of theft were recorded including money, gold and 60 livestock.

Mr. Shaa’ban also said that that the colonists' attacks caused the uprooting and burning of 836 trees, including 473 olive trees in the governorates of Bethlehem, Qalqilia, Nablus, and Hebron. Moreover, the colonizers stole more than 70 cows, and carried out 9 thefts of farmers' equipment, 3 caravans, and an agricultural tractor.

He added that the Israeli occupation authorities carried out 58 demolitions, affecting 62 facilities, including 22 inhabited facilities, two uninhabited facilities, 16 agricultural facilities and others. These demolitions were concentrated in the governorates of Hebron, Jerusalem, Qalqilia and Bethlehem. They also issued 26 notifications to demolish facilities. These notifications were concentrated in the governorates of Jerusalem, Nablus and Hebron.

Mr. Shaa’ban stated that the recent attacks were mainly reflected in two aspects. The first is a new mechanism to restrict citizens represented in the heavy fines that have been imposed by the so-called “Settlement Council” on Palestinian farmers and shepherds, amounting to hundreds of thousands of shekels. Second, the military orders that the occupation forces impose in order to seize lands, and to implement the idea of buffer zones previously proposed by the extremist Bezalel Smotrich.

Shaa’ban confirmed that the two recent military orders that targeted the lands of Deir Istiya in Salfit Governorate, specifically those surrounding the so called “Rafafa colony”, and al Mazraa al Gharbiyya in Ramallah Governorate, which surrounds “Harasha” area, do not only seize the targeted land, but rather they form a buffer zone over vast areas of lands that prevent Palestinian citizens from accessing them. .

Mr. Shaa’ban warned of the new policy adopted by the occupying state these days representing in preventing citizens from accessing the lands in accordance with the military orders the Israeli government has issued. He added that these orders conflicts  completely with the applicable international laws that manage the work of the occupation in the occupied land, stressing that these measures have prevented Palestinian citizens from accessing more than half a million  dunums of their lands as a result of colonial attacks and the systematic closure of Palestinian villages and cities.
